Item description
? Avocado ‘Pinkerton’ is a grafted plant sent at primo size, approximately 18 to 36 inches tall. This type A variety prefers full sun with at least 8 hours of direct light daily. It is not recommended for container growing and will reach 25 to 35 feet in height when mature. Hardy to 28 degrees Fahrenheit—protect during colder nights.
? The fruit is elongated and pear-shaped with green, slightly pebbled, medium-thick skin that peels easily. Pinkerton avocados have rich, nutty flavor, smooth and creamy texture, and a high oil content. Each fruit contains a small seed and weighs between 8 and 18 ounces.
? Pinkerton is a heavy and early producer, performing well near the coast and inland. Fruit ripens from November through April and can be left on the tree for months before harvesting. The tree has a medium spreading habit and reliable productivity.
? Grafted onto strong Mexican seedling rootstock, this variety is well suited for home orchards. While self-pollinating in cooler climates, fruit production improves with nearby type B avocado trees or pollinator-friendly flowering plants.
? All avocado flowers are both male and female at different times of day. Type A and B refer to flower opening patterns, not plant gender. In mild climates, trees can set fruit alone, but pollination improves with a complementary type and steady weather.
? Your order will arrive in good condition. If any issues occur upon receiving order, contact us the same day with a detailed description and photos so we can assist you.
