Item description
? Up for sale: Aronia melanocarpa, also known as black chokeberry, a 2–3 year old plant about 3 ft tall give or take. Plant is well rooted and shipped without soil during dormancy, with roots wrapped in moist media. Once growth begins in May, it will be sent potted in soil in a plastic grow bag/container.
? Black chokeberry is a hardy North American native that can be grown as a shrub or small tree. In spring, it produces clusters of white flowers that attract butterflies, followed by glossy black berries enjoyed by birds. The berries are high in pectin, making them excellent for jams and jellies.
? This deciduous shrub grows up to 8 feet tall and is known for its ease of care. It thrives in partial sun, handles both wet and dry soils, and adapts well to a wide range of conditions. Hardy in U.S.D.A. zones 3–10, it tolerates freezing winters and is ideal for both beginners and experienced gardeners.
? Black chokeberry fruit is tart and best harvested after a frost. While birds enjoy the berries fresh, they are more commonly used for making preserves, juices, and syrups. Its seasonal flowers, fruits, and vibrant autumn foliage add beauty and value to landscapes.
? Your order will arrive in good condition. If any issues occur upon receiving order, contact us the same day with a detailed description and photos so we can assist you.
