This is the quintessential, complex, 3 dimensional, massive costume jewelry set – beautiful enough to frame on the wall like a picture. The scale is wonderful on a larger frame and not for the faint-of-heart. Larry Vrba designed and created jewelry for top companies like Miriam Haskell, Castlecliff, William DeLillo, and Les Bernard, before launching into his own solo career. The theatrical people as well as the trans community especially appreciate his over-the-top, imaginative and dimensional pieces.… he resides in New York and has taught and encouraged other fledgling creators, as well. All the stones are prong set in gunmetal plated metal; shades of cranberry red/pink and clear; faux black Tahitian pearls in graduating sizes on the leaf and petals. The central red oval cabochon mirror-back alone is 1 5/8” x 1 ”. The sturdy wire construction is evident from the backside. Overall, the pin measures 6 ” x 3 ” and 1 ” deep; no finish wear, no missing stones, I couldn’t find even any fleabites in the pearl skins. It is signed LAWRENCE VRBA on one oval plaque on the pin back; and Made in U.S.A on another plaque on the backside of the leaf. Attention to detail is evident where the tip of the leaf is curled upward to make it comfortable to wear without worry of getting poked; the bottom of the stem has an extra seven stones to round it off, not only to reinforce it, but again to keep it from stabbing the wearer. The earrings match the domed construction of the petals on the flower; they measure 1 ” x 1” and are equipped with clips equipped with pads to cushion the lobes (ask me how to adjust them so they don’t pinch.) They also seem to have never been worn. The set hails from the collection of a long-time vintage costume jewelry enthusiast and will please the most discerning. Wonderful as a special gift.
