Item description
THE MAN AT THE CARLTON
by Edgar Wallace.
Toronto: The Musson Book Company Ltd. and Hodder and Stoughton Limited, Publishers, (1931).
First Canadian edition.
Published from Hodder Stoughton's plates, in the same year.
George Turner's own mystery art book-plate to the inside front cover. Turner was a premier King Kong specialist, film artist and writer, illustrator, etc.
More than one-hundred-sixty films were adapted from Wallace's books, and he wrote numerous original screenplays including KING KONG.
A mystery featuring cunning, clever, gunman and criminal, but not too bad a bloke, Lew Daney, and Tiger Tim Jordan, ex colonial policeman vying for a Scotland Yard job, and earning it with this difficult murder case.
Faint spots and rubs to the covers, slight darkening to the spine, rub-wear to the upper and lower spine edges and corner tips, barely perceptible horizontal razor slice to the lower spine, else about very good and sound in original green linen with orange titles to the front cover and to the spine; lacking a dust jacket.
