Definitely clippers, pre-electricity, maybe??
In the second picture the funny looking scissors are called thinning shears. They still use them these days, they get used on my bangs when I get a haircut.

OMG
I must be really old.
I did not think any one did not
know what hair clippers were.
In my day Every house had these.
(And a nice bowl for the top of
the head for a guide) :)

That is what my husband said they were. But I was sort of confused because my mom had these in her box of kitchen items with her cookie cutters, cannoli tubes, ramikins, silverware. So I thought it may have been something from the kitchen. Maybe she was hiding them from someone!?!?!
PS If someone knows how to make this picture smaller let me know and I will change it.
Hey Hey Hey I did it!!!!!!

Clippers is right and they probably stayed in the kitchen or with the lady of the house because they usually did all the haircuts. I have a daughter and a niece that still do that in their families, but use the electric ones now.
