Requesting more info on reputation please.

In the last community ? here about why its so slow, A answer came up on reputation. Now Ive been on and off here since 2017. I set my # to 13%. Sold some things. Now I have a webstore soon to niche in the coming weeks. I’m also on here,eBid, and auctions on eBay. I rank pretty decent in google. I advertise all the time, even in Google my business. Bonanza don’t know me, but I sell quite well. I am trying to wrap my head around this reputation. Im I to believe that a small reputation # barley gets you sales even if you been here for a bit or rank up in Google? Seems I need an answer of spending my energy here is worth it or not. If reputation is built on these games, sales and engaging on this board, I got other things to do and Bonanza loses sales. Just open up the gates! Its a win win.No anger here lol Im just a well seasoned seller. I like Bonanza!

I also just realized the confusion because Bonz has this reputation # for the forum…that does not have anything to do with google rankings (ie reputation)…sorry for the misunderstanding in my other posts (under other ID)

IMO, if two sellers are selling the SAME, IDENTICAL thing on different platforms (or even the same platform), here’s what buyers consider when it comes to who gets the sale. Not in any particular [URL removed]

1. Overall price (includes shipping).
2. Shipping time (including turnaround or handling time).
3. Website familiarity – eBay is very well known, Bonanza is still building name recognition. So, if you are selling on both Bonanza and eBay, you might be competing with yourself (unless you lower the Bonanza price to entice buyers to Bonanza or the buyer doesn’t like/trust eBay).
4. Feedback rating of seller.

I’m a patient person. If the price is a little lower, but shipping takes an extra few days, I’m OK with that. Conversely, if it takes 3-4 weeks (coming from China usually), then I’ll pay a little bit more to get it in 2-4 days.

I’m not likely to purchase an expensive item from somebody who has little to no feedback, or if they have too many negative feedback ratings.

I always check check with Google Shopping when I’m looking for an item. After getting an idea of the prices, I check with Bonanza sellers FIRST and consider the factors listed above. Of course if the Bonanza sellers’ items show up in Google Shopping, that’s even better (thus, the importance of paying Bonanza’s advertising rate of at least 9%). Not every potential buyer has heard of Bonanza, so the Google Shopping placement is absolutely required in my opinion. In other words, buyers can’t “browse” or search Bonanza if they have never heard of it.

Every potential buyer will consider these (and other) factors when making a decision where to purchase. Don’t make it harder for them to find and purchase from you. Optimize your listings, titles, photos, etc., get your prices (including shipping charges) in order, ship FAST, advertise on Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, etc. and you can increase your sales.

Thanks Tom! I agree! Thanks for the reply and helping others as well!

I have been with Bonanza around 10 years and in my opinion it keeps getting better. I began selling in 1998 on eBay when it was much better and did quite well, but, with all their changes it just made it ridiculous. Problem being, they are still the #1 for some reason, I myself stopped selling there years ago and focus on 6 other locations, but, as a seasoned seller you realize that now is the slow time of year, been that way forever, and you also realize that you cannot just put your listings up and expect them to sell all on their own, here you have to put constant time and work into it (Which is all part of owning your own company anyway). I myself add new listing daily, upgrade photos, upgrade blurbs, delete out of date product, reprice, social media advertising and the list goes on. These sites are just a platform, if we fail it isn’t their fault, it is ours. Great thing with Bonanza is you have the option of having a free site, it costs you nothing to have your items here (until of course something sells) so in my case this is my main site and my showcase, all other sales from other sites I add a coupon to get them here. Obviously we each run our sites our own way, but, I tend to see many who compare Bonanza to Feebay and that in itself is the problem, 2 totally different sites (Thank god), Sales start picking up in September for online sites and then continue to grow until January where they taper off again. Give it a chance, you may be surprised. Good Luck to you!

Hi Fantastic. Thanks for input. My BF has been on Bay 1998 and has taught me the ropes I also have Direct sales Exp. In Sales all my life. This is bad for sales across the boards. Ive pounded Google Compliant in my head with the webstore. Any dead weight goes to consignment to get new Items.

I tweet every day on all platforms, pinterest FB page and Google my business. I have fun. To hard and it becomes tedious and repetitious. Good luck to you as well!!

Has nothing to do with bonanza but with google shopping…If you check listings in GPS you will see ratings (#of stars/percentages)…that is your google reputation..

here is example for Toywiz

[URL removed]

Buyers go to ebay/amazon to “window shop”. if they do not find what they are looking for they use other means..ie search engines or google shopping..and that is what you have to work for with SEO and a good google standing (though it does seem that now google standing is based more on how much money you throw at it…)

as long as buyers find the you on other sites they probably won’t bother with your bonanza listings…

I came here too 10 years ago (2009) (my 2 other booths) and never listed again on ebay, I wanted it to work and I do admit that the years between [phone number removed] were great…GPS was free and everyone had an equal chance…bonanza did do a lot better then…

StarlightCollectibls says: August 23, 2019

Hi Trink, I do seo with webstore. I guess what i’m asking about Bonanza is years being here reshaping descriptions and pics and search small or large reputation (tried a gold membership at one time) 3.9 or a 13% doesn’t matter, because a reputation of 50,26 or 206 is a low “ranking”= slow sales?

StarlightCollectibls says: August 23, 2019

I would like to see only visible to a seller is a ranking system to better themselves to help their own stores mature and grow and thrive with sales that keep them here in Bonanza. Like I said before, this is a very nice sight. But because of not understanding rep verses rank, newbies pack up and go

StarlightCollectibls says: August 23, 2019

lol Just a thought! If I’m not making sence tell me shut up lol. Have a great weekend everyone! Thanks for all input!!!

CindyBear says: August 23, 2019

rank and rep are essentially the same thing…I just tend to use Rep…since that is the way I learned long time ago..but google ranking is something they do and as far as I know..nobody knows except google how it works (aka Trink)

I understand. I am new here, too. I like that Bonanza is for sellers. I sold on Ebay and about 500 on Etsy. I was able to import Ebay, but not Etsy, which is my greater sales. Does that mean no one buys from the sellers that are not Top Sellers? Working on doing my own website for handmade. What is the key to Bonanza? Post a huge amount of items, spend on advertising or just what? I’ve been advertising on social media. Could use a little information as to what works.

I was able to bring many items from 2 Etsy shops with the CVS files. This place is an experiment for me TBH. I am watching Alexa and traffic is going up here quite a bit last few months. Have started to send some items to the bay from here. Fun to do games and build HP Lists to me.

StarlightCollectibls says: August 23, 2019

Hey Grace. Have you signed up for Managed Payments yet? Will you? When it changes over 2020 I’m out 100%! Will not let Bay have any control of my bank acct.

GracefulAnVintage says: August 23, 2019

Do not think so. I had 2 bay stores eons ago. Now paid for a Starter shop for a year. Do not understand if after 100 free listings if they do not sell if get charged next month for them? I have info overload TBH after moving over 500 items from the other E to here.

StarlightCollectibls says: August 23, 2019

Grace watch your good til cancels dont go over you will be charged. Ilm sticking with auctions until the Managed payment mandate then I’m out of there if not sooner! The transparency and trust are no longer there. Watch and pay attention to your invoices.
