Multiple listings for one item

I see where a person literally listed the same exact item 24 times and being that I am new here I was wondering if there was a purpose behind it, or if that is allowed. They did this with every item they have in their store. Thank you :-)

SassyChastity, I see you have only been on Bonanza for a few days. Do you really want to cause a problem for some else? Not a friendly way to get started. Just my thoughts!

But even if you have multiple sizes/colors ad the variations option is not there, you can still have just one listing. I’ve done it multiple times with success. In the title I list all the color and sizes. Then at the end of the description I would be more specific, like,

Blue – Medium – 3 available
Red – Small – 1 available
etc.

I list the quantity as the total number of pieces.
I also state that the buyer should specify the color/size when ordering.

They think it will help their item sell, it doesn’t. It just loads down the site and their own store, and as a buyer that would frustrate me looking at their booth.

It is also against policy on this site and many others.

You can report it and the items should be removed. I am not sure how effective the report button is.

Thanks so much for the response. I will let Bonanza know their booth. I thought probably it wouldn’t be something that Bonanza would like. Thanks :-)

I can understand how someone from eBay might do this, by mistake. On eBay auctions the same items is often listed multiple times for bidding. But, it doesn’t work that way, here. Instead you list an item once, THEN say the quantity available for that item. Hopefully, booth holder is just new and needs to get up to speed.

The Google “rule” does NOT say a seller can’t have duplicate listings. Indeed, you can. HOWEVER, Google won’t accept the feed for such items, and in the case of repeated duplicates, may shut down all the seller’s listings, and may even, in the worst case, take action against the marketplace. Consequently, Bonz itself may be alert to the duplicates and just drop them from the feed (that’s my guess).

Its a jungle, out there.

This has been an issue in many of the clothing categories for some time. In some categories, you have the option of listing multiple sizes in one listing. In others, that is not the case. For the ones where it is not the case, the only option is to list separately for each size available.

I’ve had ongoing discussions with support about this issue. Up until this point, it has not been resolved.

Some items don’t have an option to add variations. I had to list my kids boots 5 times because there is no variations available.

You shouldn’t do that even if the option to add variations is not available. Just list the sizes you have available in title, description and put in number of units as 5 then edit the item as one sells.

To add, if a shoe company did that with every shoe they had, they would be listing thousands of items times thousands of sellers.

I don’t think the buyer should have to request a size. When I shop I don’t email anyone to request a size I just move on to the next seller or venue that have the size I want listed.

It may not be the seller’s fault. I have numerous items multiply in my booth do to a programming issue. Support is aware of this. They have told me that although my items are visible as many of the same item, they can only be purchased once and then all will disappear.

Sounds like a good fix for this would be for it to get fixed……all across the board. It would be in the best interest of the site. I can see how a seller would not want to take one listing and list all of the variations in that one listing (other details to consider as to why not). There is bound to be a problem doing it like this at some point. Not every category has the option to choose from a list when listing, like said, and automatically include the variations for a buyer to choose from. At the same time I can certainly see why a seller wants to include the variations in one listing due to duplicate listings for Google. It just would be a good idea to be able to add different variations to all categories really….an easier solution to the problem.

I have no idea why they would do that unless it was different colors or sizes. I think it is against Google rules to relist the same items over again! I’m sure someone with more knowledge on this will be along to comment on it! Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

It is a violation of Google Marketplace policy to list duplicate items and a sellers feed can be suspended for this. Google continues to develop software to detect this, and it seems to be getting more sophisticated.
From Google Marketplace rules
“Duplicate offers within the same account, or between separate accounts that you control, are not allowed.”
In addition, they seem to be suspending feeds of identical items across marketplaces. Last week a friend of mine who had identical listings on three different marketplaces had all feeds suspended. She was told by Google that this was against policy.

This applies to sending items to Google shopping.

google shopping my not like duplicate listings…but then we have no idea if the booth is submitting to google..and there are no rules against it in google organic….

You might want to message that person & let them know that there is a box above there descriptions when listing an item , where you can put hw many items of the same quantity they have for sale :) Like example , I have 50 of the same candle for sale , buttery French vanilla Circle E Candles , and they are all listed on one listing :)

Ebay does not allow multiple listings of the same item either.

Actually, we have multiple listing (duplicates) on eBay. Has not been a problem – YET, anyway.

Apparently you can have multiple duplicate auctions, just not fixed price. [URL removed]
