Bonanza informed me today that three of my listings (three “Golden Girls” DVD sets) were removed because we can’t use the word “Emmy.”
These listings were apparently really destroyed because I can’t find them to remove the offensive E-word.
Do I really have to go back and redo these listings from scratch rather than just edit the word “Emmy” out of them and simply relist?

I had the same thing happen. Here is the result of my message chain with Bonanza Support (read from the bottom up):
Hello,
Thank you for your reply, and we apologize again for the trouble. As a result of a recent legal cease and desist order from legal counsel representing the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (“Television Academy”) Bonanza is now in the process of removing any item of, relating to or referencing an “Emmy”, “The Emmys” or “Emmy Award.”
Since this request was received directly from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ legal council, we are legally bound to comply with their demands. We recommend contacting the the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences directly for additional information.
We apologize your listing #[phone number removed] was removed as a result of this new change. We’ve reviewed your listing and approved. Your item is now active online for [URL removed]

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. We appreciate your attention and understanding in this matter.

Kyrie,
Thank you for your message and explanation. While I understand your need to take blanket action, I do think your application of that cease and desist order is probably much more broad than intended. Our vintage advertising are part of history, and having descriptions indicating that people are past Emmy winners as part of an advertisement, is simply fact and commentary… not likely something that is covered by any kind of copyright infringement. I’d appreciate it if you reexamined the application of your policy to our vintage advertisements.
At the very least… if you would please manually review this [URL removed]

If you take the time to view the listing you will note that the caption for this advertisement is referencing a fictitious person named “Emmy Lou”. There is absolutely no content in this vintage ad that the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences holds any intellectual rights for.
Your prompt review of this matter is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
xxxx

Hello xxx,
Thank you for reaching out, and we sincerely apologize for any confusion. As a result of a recent legal cease and desist order from legal counsel for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (“Television Academy”) regarding copyright infringement claims, we had to remove your item(s) from Bonanza as we now prohibit listings of items or items with reference to Emmy, The Emmys, etc.
Items may be prohibited by Bonanza, regardless of the items legal or illegal status, copyright protection or not, brand selling restrictions, etc.
Suppressing these items automatically saves our sellers the time, energy and frustration it takes to manually remove these items from their booths, and also prevents the listings from being re-imported at a later date.
To ensure that your Bonanza account remains in good standing, we ask that you please do not list items of this brand in the future.
We appreciate your understanding as we continue to make Bonanza a safe buying experience for all, and as we work on the removal of these items from Bonanza.
Again, sorry for the trouble, and thanks for your understanding.
Best regards,

Hello,
Thank you for your message. However, we are quite confused. None of the listings you removed appear to be in violation of your prohibited items policy. We suspect you have removed them by mistake.
We specialize in vintage paper advertisements. Each listing you removed was a vintage paper ad, which are highly collectible and great to frame and display.
We would like to request that each of these listings be manually reviewed and re-activated on your site. Again, we can’t find anything that they are violating on your list of prohibited items. If there is something we are missing, please let us know. If there is anything we can do to assist, we’d be happy to help. We look forward to your prompt response to this matter.
Sincerely,
xxxx

I had the same issue..batch edit, apply filter for Suppressed
Apply filter
the item will appear
I did send a message asking if all the other exact items were going to also be removed…but probably not since as with many other of the bulk loaded items they do not have actual descriptions..and therefore do not have the E-word in their descriptions
Apparently, We can no longer use Emmay award winning as part of TV shows description…

I had the same thing happen with 4 of my dvd’s.
Did you look in ‘batch edit’? Click on ‘Edit filters’ and then under ‘Item Status’ select ‘Suppressed’ and ‘Apply filters’
I’ve edited mine to delete any mention of Emmy/Emmies and contacted support to please reinstate items….. waiting and hoping.
It would have been nice had bonz given us the ‘heads up’ so that we could edit before they went ahead and removed the listings.
July 5th
I just got word back from bonz regarding reinstating listings once I removed the offending ‘Emmy’ [URL removed]
Thanks for circling back and great question. Due to the way the system flags items, removing the reference to “Emmy Awards” won’t allow the item to go back online. But, you are welcome to create a new listing without referencing “Emmy” or “Emmy awards” and your items will be approvable for sale!
We again apologize for the trouble and appreciate your diligence in the matter.
Please let us know if you have additional questions or if we can be of more assistance.
Kind regards,
