What is the difference between the UPC & the MPN number? How do I find the MPN number on a manufacturer’s ticket? any information would be greatly appreciated.

The last digit of a upc is a check digit and not part of the mpn, the product code is the 5 numbers before the check digit

The manufacturer’s part number is sometimes found in the UPC, but not always. For example, LEGO sets often have a five digit MPN printed on the face of the box, but that number is not a part of the UPC. Other manufacturers (Fisher-Price is an example) often have a letter or letters in their MPN. One way to find the UPC and MPN is to go to Google Shopping and look for that info in the product details.

A MPN (Manufacturer Part Number, or a model number) that is assigned by the manufacture. While this number is unique, it is not very universal because each manufacturer uses it’s own numbering conventions. While a UPC originate’s with a company called the Uniform Code Council (UCC). A manufacturer applies to the UCC for permission to enter the UPC system. In return, the UCC issues the manufacturer a six-digit manufacturer identification number and provides guidelines on how to use it. You can see the manufacturer identification number in any standard 12-digit UPC code.
Example –
UPC -076281840475
MPN -84047
