E. ingraham mantel clock - can you tell me about this one?

I’m not sure of the age or origin of this clock. It says on the bell inside “The E. Ingraham Co, Bristol, CT USA”

We inherited it and just want some more information. Can you help?

Do you have a better picture of the clock? It’s pre 1958 maybe the late 1930’s or early 40’s

Hi. I used to restore a lot of these type of clocks, also furniture from the same era of American History. This style of clock was very popular during Victorian times, being made during the late 1800’s during Americas so called “Industrial Revolution”. During this time, a lot of woodworking machinery was designed and made to mass produce many types of products, especially wood furniture and clocks. Mostly northern woods were used like walnut, along with oak and black cherry. Some soft woods were used, such as poplar and pine, to make the backs of the clocks. They were very popular for use in the kitchen, but also in the bedroom.

E. Ingraham & Company was formed in 1860, succeeding several earlier clock-manufacturing firms in which casemaker Elias Ingraham had been involved, notably Brewster & Ingrahams ([phone number removed]), E. & A. Ingrahams ([phone number removed]) and Elias Ingraham & Company ([phone number removed]). The firm originally rented, and later purchased, a shop on Birge’s Pond in Bristol, which had been used by a number of clockmaking firms since 1820
