I need a good reliable online language translator!

Any good suggestions for a reliable online language translator? Sometimes I try to interpret a few key words on WWII German collectibles and can definitely use any suggestions for a helpful online translator of sorts. Thanks for any help.

If anyone needs German translations – please ask me, I AM German.
I’m happy to help.

I found out that online translators are – hm, how do I say this? – often make me ROFL.

Automatic translators can even turn things around to the complete opposite.
Anyway, I’m glad to help – go to BlueBoy or EuropeanGoodies.

Regarding Google translater – that’s what Moms used and got it all ‘screwed’ up.
It was too funny, her buyer probably didn’t understand it at all.

For words and simple [URL removed] here’s a legit translater –
biggest in the world, located at University Munic, Germany.
It also translates French, Spanish, Italian, Russian etc.

I use ‘him’ all the time for words.
And you get a vast selection so that you can make sure it’s the correct meaning.
Check it out, VERY helpful.
But for entire paragraphs etc – you better ask me – LOL
Johanna

PS – I just tested Google translater – OMG, ROFL, no wonder.
Simple sentences are turned around and words are definitely used in a wrong connection.
Oh well… better than nothing. ;)

Hi Dan, try bing.com. I have used it before to translate German. It worked well enough to get my message to the recipient.

I have asked Johanna (European Goodies/BlueBoy)…most recently last week, when I had a buyer from Germany. I sent them a message using Google Translator and had her check it AFTER I sent the message.

She gave me a new one…said he was probably laughing at what the message said, cuz it was all backwards. Funny, I never heard back from the buyer. Hope I didn’t offend them with my first message.

I’ve used FreeTranslation.com for words and phrases.

If you’re have a lot of German items and are just trying to translate specific German words and not trying to construct proper sentences, you might want to think about investing in the Oxford German Dictionary. I own the Oxford Spanish Dictionary and it is a fabulous resource.

Babel Fish Translator

I have never found any of the on-line translators to be accurate. They might be ok for a single word, but not sentences as they seem to translate word by word. Use them, though, if you want a good laugh.

I use Babelfish also and have never had a problem so far.

Babel fish is ok but, like abbysattic said…
Once you get into sentences and paragraphs, it really comes out messed up…funny! but messed up :)
Best bet is to find a person who speaks the language

I use Babelfish too and it seems to work okay.
