Hello.
I’ve got this interesting jewelry piece here that can either be worn as a brooch or a pendant. The design is the shape of a flower. The stones (if these are stones) are very flat, look to be glued in although very nicely done with no signs of glue. I’m seeing a multitude of different colors to include green, yellow, gold and black with varying shades in between the colors mentioned.
These “stones” do not feel cold. I can tell they are not glass.
So does anyone have any idea what these are or the age by any chance? All help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Tip Top.
Although I’ve never seen it used in this type of a piece and short of seeing it in person, yes, they are Abalone Shell.
As for age, I couldn’t even begin to guess but the piece itself looks contemporary to me.
Is it marked?

They remind me of abalone but please wait for someone else with more knowledge than me. I’m no jewelry expert.

Thank you Hodge and Momzilla (I was just visiting your booth Momzilla lol, small world).
Nope, it is not marked. Abalone sounds right. I felt like I knew what it was but could not think of the name for the life of me and would not have been able to think of it if it were not for the both of you.
It makes sense that it is flat now because from what I can tell abalone is made of shell.
It looks like this is a green abalone :) I’m not sure where the shell came from, which would help in knowing its age from the looks of the internet…
I’m also thinking that I am seeing something like lacquer over the top of the shell, no signs of glue yet as far as I can tell but I’m sure it is in there somewhere underneath :)
Editing to [URL removed] I did not realize I could not keep talking after this first post lol. Thank you Johnger also. I agree that due to the loop being on the back so that it can be worn as a pendant, makes it very much seem modern now. I have no idea how it got to the way it is today with the shells. It seems it would not be unreasonable to price it as $9.99 to $12.99 plus shipping….what do you all think of that? It is in really nice condition. I just noticed in the last two photos that the stick pin and another area on the back are showing some other colors other than the silver tone, but it is not that way in person. THANK YOU in advance. You all are fast.

Nice piece, looks modern to me as well. Unusual in a modern piece is the loop for it to worn as a necklace too. It’s a two-fer, LOL! In the old days when jewelry was truly a luxury, a piece would be made in such a way that the woman could wear it in more than one way.

This would perfectly match with a brown / beige outfit.
JUST this piece of jewelry and nothing else.
Gorgeous (I am imagining)

Abalone is farmed in China and other countries. Which is good because in natural environment it is an endangered species. Some areas of the world have better numbers than others. Abalone shells comes in several colors. Pink, greens, blues. The shell of the abalone is very hard and has a natural gloss. Thats what makes it such a good decorative shell. I think abalone is only found on the West Coast in the US. I know in Calif it is a protected species and limited quanities are allowed to be taken. As for the pin/pendent I think it is a newer piece. I am judging from the metal and pin style. It is a nice piece and abalone is very popular. I have sold every piece of jewelry and decorative boxes I have listed that had abalone shell designs. Hope this helps some. Yetta

You should certainly consider making this presentation as visually detailed as possible, in order to introduce the business to an investor or other partner companies or to a bid. People also look at the graphics and draw certain conclusions about what kind of professionals the organization is serious about [URL removed] . It is best, therefore, that you consider this early and ask this firm to present you perfectly. I believe it will be useful and allow you to expand only in international markets actively and further. It will make the presentation a truly powerful force to draw investment by professionals.
