Can somebody help me price a vintage cocktail dress?

Hi! I don’t know anything about vintage clothing. I just listed the dress but are not sure about the price. I entered $200, but can always lower it. Here is the listing … thanks in advance for your help! [URL removed]

A quick search of google for Royal Lynne dresses shows that formals from the same era as yours have a selling price of between $35-150. Price depends quite a bit on condition. If it has no flaws I would use the upper end of the range since looks to be silk and has the fantastic beading at the neck. Personally I would probably list it at about $125-130 with best offer. It isn’t quite as elaborate as those I saw in the $140-150 range.

It is a really beautiful dress!

Vintage clothing is pretty tricky. There are a lot of people that like vintage clothing out there so there is a market for it. It’s a beautiful dress. Very elegant. I would price it at $250.00 OBO. Let it ride for a month and then slowly lower the price. I’ve had some luck with vintage clothing. The price is really what someone is willing to pay for it. Would make a nice second wedding dress. Reminds me of Jackie O.

The dresses are very heavy because they are a wool-silk blend. The beading may be either glass or plastic so care has to be taken. Some of the early beading melts when it is dry cleaned.I remember these from 1960 to 1965. Usually made in Hong Kong with hang tags.

I would work down from $200.oo with an OBO so that you might end up selling for $130.oo later, if necessary. Just my suggestion from your topic request. Good luck on your listing!
