Anybody have any pearls of wisdom regarding shipping shoes? I have about three pairs of pre-owned shoes I’d like to list, but I don’t have the box for any of them. Any ideas for reducing shipping cost? Any prepaid box deals, tyvex envelopes etc that balance weight with ensuring the goodies arrive in tip-top condition?

I would suggest that you not ship any shoes using Tyvek envelopes. I have seen how those things get abused and I don’t think the shoes would arrive unscathed. As innerflow mentioned, USPS has a Priority Mail box made especially for shoes and that is what I use for all my shoes. If you have the shoe box they came in, unless they are a huge size. the box usually fits down inside the USPS shoe box. Here is the direct link to order those boxes FREE and have them delivered to your home by your mailman. [URL removed]

Hello Chad :)
You can order Shoe boxes from The Post Office and have them shipped for free to your home. They are Priority mail boxes the number you want to order is 0- Shoe Box the inside dimesions for this box is 7 1/2″ × 5 1/8″ × 14 3/8" . But it depends of the type of shoes not all shoes will fit in this box. I usually order Box # 7 from the USPS lots of room for bigger shoes box size is 12×12×8.

I have always used USPS Priority shoe boxes. Wrap the shoes in tissue paper and they are in a nice secure box.

It really depends on the type of shoe and many other things.I’ve used the Tyvek priority bags for shoes like tennis,or slippers. The Priority Shoebox is the best as mentioned above.. If your shipping overseas or Canada then you need to keep a supply of plain boxes for 1st class shipping up to 4lbs

The post office provides shoe size boxes for free. Would definitely ship in a secure box and not a bag of any sort. Tennis shoes might be okay, but for those nicer shoes, I’d definitely use the USPS shoe size Priority Boxes.

I would ship using USPS shoe box size box. It’s free and so convenient. They will even give you free labels and packing tape if you ship priority.

Yep. USPS Priority shoe boxes. Sometimes you can pick them up right from your local PO. Most shoes are cheaper to ship Pri than PP. I wrap them in plastic, just in case of bad weather. I’ve sold 100’s on ebay that way.
And they do not fit tall boots or very large mens sizes.

Well this was informative. Thanks, everyone. I order boxes from USPS all the time, but never noticed they have a shoebox. I’m going to run right over and order some. Thanks all.

The Post Office does carry a box to ship shoes, I have a few of them. Although I do not know if they are a flat rate box. You can either order them from the post office. You may also wish to check out your local post office. Mine has them in stock, but some do not.
UPS also has a few boxes that would be the right size for shoes, so I guess it depends on how you wish to ship them
