As you might have noticed, we made a few changes to chat over the past few weeks.
First, as many of you know, we have been working on chat bugs. We believe, as of just last night, that we have most of the bugs resolved and will soon turn off the ‘connecting…’ status messages that have helped us debug chat. To report chat issues that you are still seeing today, please check out this thread in the forum. And thanks for your patience while we work things through. I know this was really frustrating for a few of you.
Second, we heard some feedback that the chat in a Rush was either too big or just doesn’t belong in a Rush. We recently decreased the height of the Rush chat area by about 30% so more items get higher on the page. Why is chat even in a Rush in first place? We believe that unique items command a more social experience than say.... something that you would buy on Amazon. And chat is one way to facilitate dialogue between merchants and buyers and even amongst fellow merchants. We’ll continue to monitor chat usage, and other ways to foster merchant and buyer dialog, over time. I hope we've demonstrated a willingness to try different things!
Third, we saw some folks arguably spamming the chat rooms with tons of picture posts. Picture posts are now limited in a Rush (but not in your booths). You can only do so many in a set period. Likewise, you can now ignore a user in a Rush chat if they are bothering you. Just click on a username and then the ‘ignore user’ link.
Lastly, we found the size of the picture post images were really making it hard to follow a conversation. The image height pushed all much the dialog out of the visible window. So we created the picture link feature which allows the chat to remain easy to read, but still enables picture posts. Just click the link and you get the pop-up right there on top of the chat.
Thanks for your patience as we tweak and optimize things. We really appreciate the specific feedback as we work on making Bonanza better.

I had an idea. If maybe the chat was on the viewer’s left perhaps in a modified vertical format, it would not be so noticeable, but would be visible still if one was interested to participate in the rush.
Might be hard to truncate though with the space available, but a thought. I’m still not convinced about the chat, but you guys will make me a believer before long! Keep up the good work!
Thank you for fixing booth chat! Saturday, for the first time in 2 years, it failed at a critical $$$ moment. REALLY happy to have it back in action. My hair is growing back nicely :-)
