Born and raised near Fort Wayne, Indiana, I have always been an active participant in the arts; visual, theatrical, and vocal. I even went abroad and was the lead soloist for a Catholic mass. I moved to Florida with my family at the age of 16 and focused primarily on visual arts. Even though I was very involved in the arts, I signed up for an eight year stint in the Florida Army National Guard as a Track Vehicle Repairer for a chance at something new. My military career was cut short by four years after I sustained a back injury in Aberdeen, MD. With this new start, I decided to educate myself. I currently hold a Master's Degree in Forensic Psychology, previously worked with abused and deliquent children, and am currently working with senior citizens at a non-profit organization. However, in my spare time, I create handmade soaps, bath salts, candles, and other items. I also continue to dabble in multiple mediums of paint and pencil.
I created Black Willow Soaps after years of giving gift baskets full of homemade soaps, bath salts, and candles to my family members. They all seemed to like my products. When my mother and her friend decided that they wanted to start participating in Craft Shows, I jumped at the idea to collaborate my products. Turns out that the craft show collaboration never happened, and I was left with an abundance of homemade soap.
