Item description

1 oz - ZIN: 511921 - The parsley ( Petroselinum crispum ), native to North and Central Europe, enjoyed its greatest reputation among the ancient Greeks. At their banquets, they crowned their brows with its tendrils, believing that parsley not only created gaiety, but also increased the appetite. In the Dark Ages, it was believed that to transplant parsley was to invite death and crop failure. This superstition had its origin in the Roman custom of linking graves with parsley. In later medieval times, parsley can be used to help support flatulence, stomach ache, cough and snake bite. An infusion of the young leaves can be used as an eyewash; and a concoction of crushed seeds for freckles, and for head and body lice.
