My 55” Samsung 3D LED TV was expensive, but over the 10 years we’ve owned it it has been a delight. When it failed, I did a little Internet research and realized a similar TV today would cost thousands. I opened it and took a look inside. Turned out to be VERY simple, actually: The LCD screen and three boards - an I/O board, a video board, and a power board. Further research allowed me to isolate the problem to the power board. I searched on the part number and found a number of options for refurbished in excess of USD $250 – before mailing. New ones were closer to USD $500.
This was a depot-level repair – I pull the board and send it in, depo repairs the board and sends it back. Took a little over a week to send, repair, burn in, and return. The board works perfectly, as does the TV. I couldn’t be happier with both the performance of the repair and the massive savings!
