The Voyagers crew is overjoyed with the shore leave on the planet, but they soon find out that the Sikarians have their own prime directive which prevents them from sharing their technology with less advanced races. Nonetheless, Janeway asks Gath to use his advanced technology to send Voyager as far as he can in exchange for more stories. Even after Janeway is refused the barter by Gath, Tuvok sacrifices his career when he tries to make a covert exchange of stories for technology, with the hope of getting home. Episode 11 STATE of FLUX: While a Voyager away team explores a new planet for foodstuffs, a cloaked Kazon-Nistrim ship is detected in orbit. Before the crew members can be recalled Chakotay is injured by two Kazonians after he tries to protect Seska. Three days later, Voyager receives a distress call from a Kazon warship. It turns out to be the one they just encountered, but with only one survivor amid devastation that was caused by Federation technology. Only someone on board Voyager could have given the Kazon such technology. Chakotay and Tuvok set a trap to find the traitor, with shocking results.
