Vintage original 13.5 x 20 in. US mini poster from the popular Mexican-themed animated fantasy musical romance, THE BOOK OF LIFE, released in 2014 by Reel FX/20th Century-Fox and directed by Jorge R. Gutiérrez. Manolo (Diego Luna), a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart, embarks on an adventure that spans three fantastic worlds where he must face his greatest fears. This poster was issued for the film's original US theatrical release and is an exceptionally nice piece which features amazingly bright colors and great lighting effects. The major characters are depicted which includes Maria (Zoe Saldana) prominently in the foreground with Joaquin (Channing Tatum, left) and Manolo (Diego Luna, right) standing behind her. Rolled as originally issued, this vintage original mini poster is in very fine condition with a small area of light rippling near the top left corner. This poster will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube to prevent damage while in transit. In the Spanish dubbing of the film, La Muerte is called "La Catrina." This is obviously "Posada's Catrina," a popular iconic skeletal lady that has become associated with the festivities of the Día de Muertos. Her main attribute is a gorgeous hat. In the film, the modern Mexican icon (La Catrina) and the classic icon (Lady Death) are fused in a single role as the ancient Mayan goddess of death, ruling over one of the lands of the dead.
