Professionally Framed and Double Matted

This art piece is in excellent condition, under glass.
It is signed by the artist on the bottom left hand corner "H. Gasser/Rome."
This is a lovely street scene by Gasser. His work is very imaginative usually, and captures real life through his lens. His colors and subjects are really life like as depicted in this piece; it's absolutely charming. This piece was done on a "Rome Street" and captures the life like situations as seen, and the buildings structures are really captivating.
A true Street Scene done by a great American painter.
About the artist: Henry Gasser attended the Newark School of Fine art and industrial Art and the Grand Central School of Art. This was followed by studying at the Art Students League of New York in the classes of Robert Brackman. He later studied privately under John R. Grabach. He is represented in over 30 Museums. He is also represented in the international business machine collection and the Historical Properties Section of the War Department.
Among the awards that Henry Gasser received are the Hallgarten Prize of the National Academy, the Zabriskie, Osborne and Obrig prizes at the American Watercolor Society, the Philadelphia Watercolor Club Prize, the Allied Artist Gold Medal, the silver and gold Medal at Oakland, California and various awards from Audubon Artists, the Connecticut Academy, and the Salmagundi, the Historical Properties Section of the War Department.
He is a member of the National Academy of Design, the American Watercolor Society, the Royal Society of Art (Great Britain) the Salmagundi Club the Philadelphia, Baltimore and the National Arts Club, the Grand Central Art Galleries and the Art Students League and was on the faculty of the latter institution. Henry Gasser served as director of the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art from 1946-54 and lectured demonstrations Casein Painting: Methods and Demonstrations, Techniques of Painting, and his latest book, Techniques of Painting the Waterfront. A motion picture "Exploring Casein" has recently been made in which Gasser demonstrates various techniques.
