80s Runway Ready Wendy Gell Festive and 50 similar items

A party on your hand! Chunky, faceted crystals in clear, light green, pink, and amber bristle in every direction; plush an old earring of prong set clear stones create a checkerboard tucked in amongst the jewels. Pale green and creamy faux pearls cover the inside edges to soften for comfort of wear as well as add ‘rounding out’ the angles. Wendy created this piece in the late 80s when chunky, fabulous fakes were the esthetic of the fashion runways. Before recycling was a “thing” she repurposed vintage costume jewelry components. The ring base is a split construction that will allow it to spread to accommodate multiple rings sizes and designed to wear on the middle fingers to have it cover the center of your hand (see my listing for the Pink Wendy Gell Ring for a picture of how it is worn; as well as two other rings available.) It is 2 ” x 2”; signed WENDY GELL on the back; the encrusted stones all seem to be present. The long-time serious vintage costume jewelry collector purchased this ring directly from Wendy. It is signed on the backside and is in very good vintage, wearable condition. It is a striking fun statement for drama from day to evening. Wendy has told me she didn’t do as many earring designs because her hand-crafted treasures were too easily copied by companies that mass produced far cheaper than she could – while duplication may be the sincerest form of flattery, it is totally frustrating for the artist.
