Item description
This ?AZ? hallmarked Zuni NA Spirit Bear Pendant 16? Link Chain is a beautifully crafted piece of Native American jewelry. Made in the United States, this sterling silver pendant features a traditional Zuni design with onyx and turquoise stones, representing the spiritual significance of the bear in Navajo culture. With a provenance of ownership history available, this handmade piece is a unique and authentic representation of Native American craftsmanship.
In the Southwest, letters like "AZ" followed by a dot, number, or letter (such as AZ.O, AZ.1, or AZ.A) typically do not belong to a single person. Instead, they represent Southwest jewelry hubs based in Gallup, Albuquerque, and Phoenix who frequently used regional inventory stamps to identify the metal purity and state origin of workshop-produced pieces. Organizations like the Hopi Silvercrafts Guild or various Zuni and Navajo trading posts stamped pieces to certify they were authentic, bench-made Native American silver from Arizona workshops.
The sterling (925 marked) silver 16 inch link chain adds a nice solid touch. Note that the bail needs to be soldered at some point. It is serviceable now but has a couple of holes/weak spots we guess from use but not entirely sure why. See photos.
