Item description
Endress+Hauser Level Flex Guided Radar Level Sensor
PRE OWNED/ GOOD CONDITION/ UNTESTED/ WE WERE TOLD THIS WAS PULLED FROM WORKING ENVIRONMENT BUT CANNOT TEST ANY FURTHER SO WE ARE SELLING AS IS / UNKNOWN MODEL NUMBER
? What It Is
The Endress+Hauser Levelflex is a guided wave radar (GWR) level transmitter used for continuous level measurement in tanks and vessels.
Measurement principle: Time-of-flight radar along a probe
Output: 4?20 mA + HART (Fieldbus optional)
Mounting: Top-mounted (threaded or flanged)
Probe types:
Rod
Rope (long tanks)
Coaxial (best accuracy)
?? How It Works (Simple Explanation)
The transmitter sends a radar pulse down a metal probe
The signal reflects off the product surface
Return time = level measurement
? Because the signal follows the probe, it?s:
Not affected by foam, vapor, or turbulence
Much more stable than non-contact radar in tough conditions
?? Key Specs (Typical Levelflex FMP51 / FMP55)
Accuracy: 2 mm (very high precision)
Max range:
Rod: ~10 m
Rope: up to ~45 m
Temperature: up to ~200C (392F)
Pressure: up to ~40 bar (~580 psi)
Outputs:
4?20 mA
HART / Foundation Fieldbus
? Key Advantages (Why People Use It)
Highly reliable in difficult conditions
Foam, vapor, boiling ? no problem
No moving parts
Works with:
Liquids
Slurries
Interfaces (oil/water layers)
Advanced diagnostics (Heartbeat Technology, echo tracking)
? Example: The Levelflex FMP55 can measure both level AND interface simultaneously using dual technology
? Best Applications
Tank level (oil, chemicals, water)
Interface measurement (oil/water separation)
Steam drums / high-temp vessels
Slurry or dirty service
Tall vessels (rope probe version)
?? Limitations / Things to Check
Requires probe inside tank (intrusive)
Probe must be compatible with:
Product (corrosion)
Temperature
Not ideal for:
Very low dielectric fluids ( ~1.4?1.6 without coax probe)
Needs proper installation clearance (avoid obstructions)
SHELF: 83
