DETAILS After Chrysler switched to the 'rounded' radios in @1998, they changed to a different plug style. (Starting in 2002, in some vehicles.) This Radio Specialty brand adapter makes the newer (2002+) rounded radios with the 22-pin main plug a plug and play replacement in the 1998-2002* Chrysler vehicles that have the older 'twin' 7-pin plugs (one gray and one black) and a rounded corner radio. This adapter does NOT address the CD changer cable. The CD changer plug on newer (2002+) radios also changed, so if you already have a remote changer (separate from the radio, ie - in the trunk, dash, console,etc), you will need to get one of the newer CD changer cables or adapters (available separately.) Please note that wire colors may not match those in the picture and will almost certainly not match your colors. Color doesn't mater though. Pin location is what's important. This is an adapter, not an interface. This will NOT add functionality to your car. It merely adapts the power, ground and speaker wires from the old plug style to the new. If you're looking to add a radio with functionality like Bluetooth, navigation, etc, additional components may be required and we probably don't sell them. This is a wiring adapter only! *During this same timeframe, the older 'square-corner' radios were still used in some vehicles. They have the same 7-pin plugs but do not mount the same way. If your intent is to put a newer (2002+) radio in an older vehicle with the old radio shape (square-corner), you will need this adapter. However, this adapter only addresses the wiring. It is up to you to get your new radio mounted. NOTE: If you have a 'joystick' at the bottom right corner of the radio or a volume knob that is not depressed into the face of the radio when the radio is off, you have the older (square-corner) style of radio. In 2004 Chrysler began introducing their new CAN-BUS radios that also had 22-pin plugs. This adapter is NOT compatible with those stereos. Those radios have two large knobs on the face, one on each side of the display window, so they should be easily recognizable. This does NOT have the SWC plug (commonly used for steering wheel controls, among other things) on the end that attaches to your current vehicle wiring but the wire IS present in the adapter. You would need to remove the wires from your current SWC plug and insert it this wire into it Please also note this comes with a u-shaped terminal for on the ground wire. Some radios only have a spade terminal, so you may need to cut off the U terminal and crimp a female terminal on instead. APPLICATIONS According to our research, the following list represents Chrysler models/years that used the 'twin' 7-pin plugs AND the oval style radio. If your vehicle is on this list, you can use this adapter to install a newer (2002+) oval radio. This list is provided as a courtesy and should not be used as a substitute for common sense and research on your part... Please note: some vehicles still used the 'twin' 7-pin plugs in 2002. Pull your radio and make sure you know what you have BEFORE you purchase if you have a 2002. If you have a 2002, you will want to make sure your plugs look like the ones that are described BEFORE purchasing. Please note that 2002 was a change-over year and radios were offered with both the old twin-7 plugs and the newer 22-pin plug in that year.
