Item description
Vintage 60s Franklin Simon, New York A-line, almost Bell shape, three-quarter length coat with notched collar and offset side button detail with double breasted interior snap closure and three celluloid or maybe even Bakelite (but I?m not sure how to tell) round shaped ball buttons. The placket side fastening and the buttons make this coat, unique and set apart. The color is mustard yellow, but they would have called this gold or Marigold or harvest gold back in the day (it?s not metallic gold). There was a fourth button near the bottom, but the previous owner stitched that button hole shut. I can only imagine based on where it?s placed. It would pop off frequently and the coat fastens fine without. Satin lining. There is a separation in the lining where the armpit seam meets the body of the coat, but it is cosmetic, unseen when worn and wearable as is. Would be an easy fix Should you choose. On seam hip pockets, the right one has a hole in it, but would be an easy fix. Blue and white ILGWU union label. Laying flat measures 36 inches shoulder to hem and 18 inches armpit to armpit. 17 inches across the waist and 19 inches across the hip. In keeping with the era, there is no fabric contents or size label, but it is featured on my size medium dress form for scale.
