Item description
TYUYAMUNITE
Natural Uranium Rock
Weight: 10.5 oz. (big!) Radiation: 55,000. CPM (counts-per-minute
$50.00 plus $12.80 shipping
TYUYAMUNITE relates closely to another
variety of natural uranium rock: Uraninite.
This rock was found during October 2025,
when I was "rockhounding" with a visiting
couple who are based at Minneapolis MN.
ACCURACY OF THE CPM NUMBERS:
The stated number is based on the measure
taken at the "white spot" that has been added
to every uranium rock. The white spot is
at the strongest radiation point found on the
rock's external surface. I use the most
accurate geiger-scaler available to uranium
hobbyists: A Ludlum Model 2200. I have
three of these, and all are well calibrated.
The Ludlum 2200 has an analog meter/needle
scale which is used to identify the rock's
strongest response spot. Next, a six-digit
digital scale shows the actual number-count
of geiger ticks happening within a 60-second
timed interval.
One of the photos shows a highly radioactive
dinosaur bone, displayed in a glass case at the
New Mexico Mining Museum, located on Santa
Fe Avenue, in the town of Grants. It is claimed
that this is the only museum worldwide that
is focused totally on uranium mining. I bring
rockhound visitors to see this museum on any
days that suffer from bad weather outdoors
in the uranium field.
