Item description
American Providence Rhode Island, F B Foster and Bailey mark c. 1878-1898
Rolled Gold Compact with old CONVEX Mirror
like the collection seen in Victoria and Albert Museum in England
Compact collectors must have.
Arts and crafts pattern engine turned.
Appears the top's sides are heavy rolled gold and the rest seems to be gold plated.
Three tiny pinpoint size impressions and some scuff marks on top. Inside the compact is a convex mirror with light oxidation spots. The side edges may have silver showing through under a high powered magnification, this is a very old piece and appears to have been used. It is still in very good condition considering the age, but not perfect.
Use as a compact, pendant mirror or to hold vitamins or pills.
Please email me with questions.
Foster and Bailey were silversmiths once operating under the name White and Foster from 1873-1878.
Sweet old piece as is.
