This Civil War?era dictionary is bound in full leather and bears the embossed seal of the California House of Representatives on the cover, indicating it was an official state copy. The volume shows heavy external wear with loss and staining to the leather, but the text block remains solid, and the interior pages are generally clean with some foxing and toning typical of the period. A very scarce example of a Worcester dictionary with direct connection to California?s government during the Civil War era. The book is very very beat up on the cover and spine.
