Completely embroidered by hand, there are floral designs, foliate details and majesctic scrollwork embroidered with great skill in raised satin stitching. The workmanship is absolutely superb...the design quite magnificent. Very fine detailed embroidery work, this is meant to be used as the "showing part" of a sheet on a bed, it looks stunning over colored pillowcases as a large sham, or perhaps as a valance over a window. This is a flat piece of linen, the worked part of the layover piece is on one end, the other end is hemmed. It is meant to be tucked in the blanket fold, and folded over to show the pretty part. The cherubs from the skilled hands of Italian embroiderers is highly collectible and desired, and it's no wonder.
