Item description
WW2 military prismatic marching compass, made by T.G. Co Ltd London in 1941.
? Markings:
Back engraved: T.G. Co Ltd London, Mk III, 1941 with Broad Arrow.
Lid personally engraved: HMCS Hamilton 1942.
? Details:
Brass body with patina, complete with original leather case.
Working prismatic compass dial, luminous markings (faded with age).
Produced for the British Army, later issued to HMCS Hamilton, a Canadian Flower-class corvette serving in the Battle of the Atlantic.
? Condition:
Used vintage condition, with signs of wear.
Leather case aged but present.
Compass functional.
This is a rare WW2 naval compass, not only British-made but also personally engraved to HMCS Hamilton (Royal Canadian Navy, 1942). A unique artifact directly tied to a named warship of the Atlantic convoy escort fleet.
