The title of the book refers to the members of The Irish Volunteers and Cumann Na mBan in Co. Monaghan who may not have won national fame like Michael Collins or Patrick Pearse, but served their country with no less conviction or heroism, during the two and a half year conflict, that was the War of Independence 1919-1921. This book covers events connected with the struggle for freedom that occurred in the Monaghan Bay area.
