From the introduction: Bob Phelps was a car guy from the very start. His first high school car was a 1948 Chevy, not unlike the one in the collection today. The original was two-tone green with wood sides. Not long after acquireing the car, it slipped away, but the fond memories stayed alive for decades. In the fall of 1961 Bob purchased a new 1962 Corvette. With some fine tuning, he went on to take top honors at the NHRA U.S. National one year later in the A/Sports class and became a national record holder. Fast forward to 2001; Bob once again tromped the competition at the U.S. Nationals in the competition/eliminator AA/Altered Class. ....He has always been a mechanic 1st, and a collector 2nd. His apparent choice of cars is hot rods. The process of owning a customized car begins with a complete tear down, inspection, overhaul and modification, and only then the restoration begins. Since the mid-nineties, he has built about 22 Hot Rod/Pro Touring cars as well as restoring many others. Today, Bob runs the Phelps Motorsports from locations in Michigan and Florida. 80 pages, illustrated in color.
