Item description
This is Duncan Miller's Depression era pink opalescent swan dish in the Sylvan pattern. (The Sylvan pattern was introduced in 1939.) This swan is 8 inches long, and the head/neck of the bird is 6 3/4 inches tall. The neck is gracefully shaped. I think this dish has a little less opalescence than average, but I haven't seen many Sylvan swans. The opalescence is on the rim of the dish. There is a shadow of opalescence in the tail area, for about 3 of the scallops, and very faint circles of it in the bottom.
The swan is in good condition, but there is a small chip on the inner edge of the rim near the left side of the neck. It is about 8mm long and 2 mm wide. It's not very visible. There is also a mildly rough area along the inner edge to the left of that chip, for about 2 inches, and 2 small fleabites to the right of the chip. I can find no other damage. The swan weighs about 1 pound 7 ounces. before packing for shipping.
