Mohler served as the Secretary of the Kansas State Board of Agriculture around that time, and the publication was part of the Report of the Kansas State Board of Agriculture, specifically Volume 64, Number 267. The author of the book "Birds in Kansas" was Dr. Arthur L. Goodrich, Jr., of the department of zoology of Kansas State College. It is a 340-page book that was published in March 1946. While J.C. Mohler was involved with the Kansas State Board of Agriculture and oversaw publications like "Insects in Kansas", he is not listed as the author of "Birds in Kansas". Therefore, J.C.
