Item description
THE SEA IS A WOMAN
By Albert E. Idell.
New York: Henry Holt and Company, (1947).
First edition, first printing.
"First printing" statement to the copyright page.
Based on some actual incidents described in a chapter of D. Lewis R. Tryon's autobiography discussing the voyage of S.S. Hawkeye and the mutiny on board on Armistice Day 1921, however many characters have been fictionally created, including an alcoholic actor, a war-scarred doctor and more, in their travels from San Pedro to Panama City, to New York.
Well-preserved and in presentable, collectible condition.
A hint of rubbing to the lower shelf-edges, else very nearly fine, square, and tight in green linen with embossed white titles decorations and rules to the spine, passenger manifest list illustrated end-papers; in a near fine dust jacket with rubs to the corner tips, tiny rubbed tears and surface nicks to the upper and lower spine edges; original printed $2.75 price still intact to the front inner flap.
The dust jacket will be placed in a clear, removable, protective sleeve, after scanning for this entry.
