The name was adopted as a tribute to the original Kappella, a choir of fabulous male voices which first presented this unique style of singing in America as a gesture of goodwill from Czar Nicholas II. In addition to a regular schedule of concert appearances, the Chorus broadcasts programs beamed behind the iron curtain by the Voice of America.
