Item description
600 Seeds Non-GMO Gourmet Purple Hybrid Pak Choi - Deep Purple Bok Choi
This Gourmet Pak Choi Hybrid boasts striking deep purple leaves on top, with green undersides accented by purple veins and sturdy green petioles. It is a highly adaptable and easy-to-grow variety, known for its tender texture and mild flavor. The plant can be harvested at various growth stages, from microgreens to baby leaves, or as a fully matured plant. It thrives in both warm and cool climates, showcasing its vibrant colors regardless of temperature. Among all purple varieties, this particular Pak Choi features the most intense purple hue.
To cultivate, start by preparing well-drained, fertile soil. Seeds can be sown in spring, after the last frost, through early summer or again in late summer to early fall. Ensure the soil remains consistently moist and apply fertilizer as needed. Ideal growing temperatures hover in the 60sF range. Exposure to frost or extended periods below 50F may trigger premature bolting, so mulching fall crops is recommended to avoid this. The deep purple color, attributed to a pigment called "anthocyan," typically develops when temperatures are cooler. Optimal color can be achieved at growing temperatures between 50-60F after germination, though exact exposure times may vary, so growers are encouraged to experiment and observe how the plant responds to different environmental conditions.
