Four classic films made by Ealing studios. In the wartime thriller 'Went the Day Well?' (1942), based on a story by Graham Greene, a platoon of German paratroopers disguise themselves as British troops in order to infiltrate and take command of an English village during the Second World War. The locals' attempts at resistance are hampered by a degree of collaboration with the enemy. In the horror anthology 'Dead of Night'; (1945), architect Walter Craig (Mervyn Johns) arrives at country house Pilgrim Farm thinking that he has been hired to remodel it. He finds the building strangely familiar - and upon entering discovers that he recognizes all of the house's occupants from a recurring nightmare he has experienced. One by one, everyone present relates their own horrific nightmares... 'Nicholas Nickelby' (1947) is an adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens novel, directed by Alberto Cavalcanti. Derek Bond stars as the eponymous hero, a resourceful young man who is forced to protect his family against the demonic machinations of his wicked Uncle Ralph (Cedric Hardwicke). Cast out into the cold, cruel outside world, Nicholas Nickleby deals adroitly with friend and foe alike - eventually coming full circle to mete out his revenge on his unspeakable uncle. John Mills stars in the classic docu-drama 'Scott ofthe Antarctic' (1948), which chronicles the ill-fated final expedition to the South Pole in 1912 by British explorer Robert Scott .The film is accompanied by the music of Vaughn Williams. Please note this DVD is region 2 and will only work in the following regions Japan, Europe, South Africa, the Middle East (including Egypt) and Greenland, Unless you have a multi-regional DVD Player.
