Diecast Metal Model Airplane 1931 Stearman 3rd in the Series 4D Wings of Texaco Third in the series of Texaco airplane banks produced for Kip brothers, Inc. By Ertl Company, Inc. stock number F121UO. 1931 Stearman 4D The Texaco 14 Stearman biplane was produced for a little under $15,000 for the Stearman aircraft company in Wichita Kansas in July 1931. The 300 hp Wasp Junior radial engine delivered a top speed of 145 mph in a maximum range of 120 miles. The steering earned praise from young pilots for being a remarkably easy and forgiving plane to fly. This particular steer man was probably put to work as a rapper transportation for the Texaco general domestic sales department under JD Jernigan.
