Item description
Pre-viewed for quality and played good on my Panasonic vcr. Cassette is nice with a foil security sticker on the right endcap assuring you of first generation quality.
Box is still in good shape too with a little shelf wear around the corners and right edge where it opens on the right spine instead of the bottom. Also has some light creases on that right edge and some sticker shadows near the top (see photo). It also has a small 'horror' sticker on the bottom left spine.
Taking a leaf from William Castle's book of manipulative showmanship, the film is introduced by a prologue informing you, the audience, that they are the detectives invited to discover the identity of the werewolf on the basis of clues scattered across the picture. Towards the end, the film pauses for 30 seconds ("werewolf break") and asks the viewers whether they have succeeded before finally revealing the solution to the riddle.
The film itself is a contrived variation on the standard country-house whodunnit in which a rich eccentric invites a group of guests to his mansion riddled with closed-circuit TV cameras. Each guest is connected with a strange death and one of them is thought to be a werewolf, whose unmasking is supposed to provide the host with an unusual prey for a hunting party.
The script offers clues in the guise of long discourses on werewolf folklore, wheeling on a Dr. Lundgren (Peter Cushing) for the purpose. Predictably each guest comes under scrutiny and red herrings are liberally distributed.
Could be a good Halloween party tape for people that have never seen it.
