Item description
Vintage 1957 Signed Herb Owens - The Iowa Missouri Line - Lineville Route 65 Painting on Masonite Board. Board measures approximately 17" by 20" inches. This painting is in good condition as displayed in the photo gallery. It was gifted Tom Shirley Houvenagle as a wedding gift in 1957. Titled on the back. Includes a vintage news article from the Des Moines Tribune written by the artist/writer in 1966.
Herbert Griffith Owens
(1902 -1967) Herb Owens was a reporter for the Des Moines Tribune, an affiliate paper to the Des Moines Register. He was especially known for the traditional Americana which told the stories of small town Iowa citizens. After retirement Owens was able to further expand his painting, still celebrating Iowa.
