Item description
? One Saskatoon Serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifolia), 1-2 years old, suitable for USDA hardiness zones 4-8. Plants will be pruned in April back to 14-20 inches and might be pruned back to 22 inches for shipping during Summer/Autumn if grew taller. Roots will be carefully wrapped in wet media such as wood shavings and plastic during the dormancy period from September to May. During the summer(May to October) it will be shipped in container with soil. Keep the plant in the received container if received potted. Do not disturb the rotos until plant is fully dormant again in October. Then it will be safe to transplant it in open ground.
? This deciduous shrub or small tree grows to a mature height of 10-20 feet. Native to North America, it thrives in various soil types but prefers moist soils, such as those found in swamps or thickets. Saskatoon Serviceberry is valued for its adaptability and low maintenance requirements.
? The fruit is dark purple, about 1/3 inch in diameter, and is versatile in culinary uses such as pies, jellies, wines, and cider. It also provides an excellent food source for wildlife, including ruffed grouse, doves, woodpeckers, and many other bird species.
? Summer shipping (June through September) includes plants in containers with soil, with leaves removed or trimmed to conserve water. Winter shipping (October through May) is bare-root, with roots securely wrapped in wet media for dormancy. Plants are shipped in mailing tubes or boxes to ensure safe transit.
? Your order will arrive in good condition. If any issues occur during shipment, contact us the same day with a description and photos of the problem so we can assist promptly.
