Item description
A Collector's Resource Through:
POST CARDS OF OUR ANTIQUE DOLLS
by Helen O. Ackert
Foreword by Roger C. Ackert
Dedicated to Max B. Ackert
Dekalb, Illinois: Ackert Enterprises, (1976).
First edition, first printing.
SIGNED by three.
SIGNED by the author to the title page;
SIGNED by her co-collector and husband, Max to the dedication page; and
SIGNED by their son Roger, the photographer of the items in the book, to the foreword page.
This beautifully produced book brags fifty-seven high-quality color photographs of post-cards featuring antique dolls. Each color photo is accompanied by a black-and-white photo of the back of the post card and commentary by the author on the particular doll and on the post card.
Avid doll collectors, the Ackerts opened the Chicago Doll Hospital in 1949 . In 1970 they began photographing their favorite dolls, and sent them out as post cards.
This delightful book contains a chapter about their doll collecting as well as four photo-reproduction pages of newspaper articles published with photos about their doll hospital.
A mild corner crease to the front end-paper, upper corner tips slightly bumped, a faint one-inch stain to the lower edge of two pages, else very good plus in deluxe pebbled blue boards with embossed white titles to the spine; in a near fine dust jacket with minor crimping to the upper spine edge.
Quarto.
An ideal source book for doll history.
Unusual in a triple SIGNED hardcover first edition!
