Where's the views???

Well, here I am again. I am having such a hard time just trying to get views in my shop.I’m lucky if I get 2-3 per day!
I now have 222 items listed and I know that they are all searchable and I think that all have good descriptions. I know some pics still need to be improved but I’m at a loss as to what to do next.
I pinned to pinterest, facebook, and bestie and still views are extremely low.
Any suggestions from other sellers will be greatly appreciated.

I have the challenge. I sell on other platforms with a lot of the same inventory and I am seeing a huge difference with Bonanza being much lower.

don’t know…it is not just bonanza…my own website has come to a standstill, the forum boards are all buzzing that sales have taken a dive on all sites…even ebay and amazon…

I think google’s new search and requirements for all sites to be mobile compliant at by the end of April has pretty much messed up loads of people…

The one thing I have noticed over the years, every time google changes things..sales dive everywhere…there is always a 2-3 month rebound effect…but at least this time the changes were made as we enter summer, the slow time anyway, instead of just prior to the holiday season

I get traffic in my other two shops and some sales. It’s like my booth is invisible here! I’m really trying very hard here…

I agree 100 percent. The sites catch the grief but more of the blame should be placed on Google. Personally, this seller lemming is tired of the annual cliff dive into the Google gorge.

gearseller2 says: May 27, 2015

Just for clarity- Bonanza is mobile compliant….right?

ccmom says: May 28, 2015

gearseller2…yes

Joined Bonanza because eBay sales were slow, but have sold $3000 in small items on eBay while awaiting my first sale here. Don’t see much else happening without some TV ads.

With the “search crawler activity” off and having in mind that B. stats include us looking at our own items – extremely low number of views…

[URL removed] “It’s like my booth is invisible here!”
I perfectly understand your statement and share the same feeling about it.

E.g. today no views at all, so far…

There are a lot of free boards, groups, etc., where everybody can promote their items without spending extra money.

When members log in here on B., they could spend 2 minutes twice a day to post their items.

E.g. I have on Pinterest “The Best Of Bonanza Open Board” and “Pin Free Market” (and I’ve invited all members here on our forum to join this board):

As I’ve said to one [URL removed]
“(…) They [items] can stay there permanently, the goal of the community board is to make it more ‘alive’ with a constant flow of items, so when somebody checks it, can see all the time new items on the top.
But this requires at least a minimum effort from all members to pin regularly 1-3 items even every day. This can drive buyers to the Bonanza in general and it would benefit everyone.”

and “(…) It would be good [members adding items themselves], I hope more members will do it, it could help everybody.
Now, in the beginning I’m adding some items from the first members’ shops, but to have this board beyond any doubt, for everybody to be sure, that it’s an our community place and nobody’s items are promoted extra – when items appears that’s because only shops owners posted them!”.

Dear Maggie59, I’ve tried to open your Pinterest link several times, but there is this [URL removed] “Whoops! We couldn’t find that page.” I ’ve made a screenshot.

Don’t give up Maggie- you have a great start with free shipping and 30 day returns. My experience is that social media is just not the answer especially until you are out there for awhile. We did find that using the advertising program made a lot of difference if you can afford even the 9% plan. Also even the gold membership. I know it is not always possible, it wasn’t for us for awhile, but we found that it was worth a test even for just a month. There is definitely more exposure using those features. If you can try it and see it will help you decide. It’s been a lot of work which you are obviously willing to do and no guaranteed success of course but if it shows promise for you then you can price your items to cover your costs for the membership and advertising plan.

Lastly, it’s been a rough winter for people and now the terrible storms everywhere and that slows things down as people have other things to worry about other than shopping! Deliveries are affected etc.

So don’t quit and good luck to you! Hope this helps.

I keep on switching from the 9% to 13% plans to see if activity picks up…never does. Only 1 sale in March since I started.

Yes, sales are down on every site. I have not sold a thing on ebay or listia in the past 2 or 3 weeks. usually i at least get one small sale, but nothing. I do believe what ccmom said, as i have seen the same thing, every time google messes with something, sales take a plunge. Hopefully things get back to normal soon.

Views have stayed low for me since I started in January.Mo matter what I do, they hardly go up…

ccmom says: May 26, 2015

I can have several thousand views and still have no sales…and unless you are actually tracking your views through google analytics, I would not rely on the ones here…they get glitchty sometimes

ccmom says: May 26, 2015

and per Mark’s post recently..they were doing some updating and said that the items stats were off…

D12 says: June 03, 2015

[URL removed] Sales are not really down, this is trackable.

Looks quite spammy Sabby…

I think seasonal economics only add to the frustration. My mom was an antique dealer – and all she ever did in May was buy things for upcoming sales – she never signed up for shows in May – too many things on people’s minds – memorial weekend for many is the first escape to a vacation, and after that the school’s are all out and people are worrying about other things instead of spending time indoors shopping. This cycles throughout the year – you have done a lot of prep work getting your name out there on social media – it does not happen immediately – but that comes in waves as well. Plus the mobile compliant mode slows things down.

Work on building more inventory and taking choice pictures to upload or change out bad ones during the “maintenance time” – it’s called work for a reason and people want to be exposed to “new” (not neccessarily brand new – but new items for them to get an interest in) – hang in there – work on other parts of your business and keep an interesting choice of products.

I guess you are never done tweaking your booth…Thanks for all the great tips !

I have the same problem, and my booth set on the maximum fee 16%.

there are days when i get 20 sales a day, and there are days 0-5 a day.

last week, great week with lots of sales, but this week barely any sales.

Online sales drop 30% in the Americas in Q2 for Quiksilver

Between google and their UN small business-friendly practices, gov’t (over) regulations, increasing postage costs, it’s not a stretch to think Americans are backed into a corner that is costing all of us. Even that big retailer I referenced is taking a hit right now.

Just wanna put two cents in (although not helping much). I sell on ebay, amazon, and my own web site and I think by far bonanza, from a selling and buying standpoint is a much, much better selling environment. Even though things may be slowing a little I think that as more and more people find out the better experience they will get from Bonanza things will pick up.(Not a paid advertisement just opened up a shop and still adding products)
