Some of the messages in my “sent” folder have envelope icons next to them and others do not. My only guess is that perhaps the ones without icons have been read but the ones with an icon means that the person I sent the message to has not read it yet. Is that an accurate guess or does it mean something else?

Your are correct. However, the email recipient also gets an email automatically sent to their actual email address with the full body of the message. That means that they could have read the message there without having to check their Bonanza messages.
That wasn’t always the case in the early days of Bonanzle/Bonanza. Several years ago, that feature was added due to concerns about Bonanzlers not checking their Bonanza messages regularly.

Remember these tips:
- Use links to other sources to support your opinions
- Use examples where possible
- Put yourself in the inquirers shoes: what extra info would be helpful?
Should I post a comment or an answer?
You can only post one answer, so make it count. Maybe your reply is more fitting as a comment instead?
Post an answer for:
- Replies that directly and specifically answer the original question
Post a comment for:
- "Thanks," "Me too," "I agree," or "Works for me" types of replies
- When you would like the original poster to provide more details
- When you have more to add to someone else's question or answer
