Way to authenticate bv purse?

I have what I think is an ‘older’ (but not truly vintage) Bottega Veneta purse. The exterior isn’t leather, rather a taupe-color textured fabric with a repeating BV design. I was wondering if anyone knew when this fabric was used, and/or a site where I could pull up information from the serial number (I’m not a purse person). I’m working on getting some good photos and will try to list it soon but I need an idea of value first.

I was told a while back that the best way is to take the purse to a store that sells BV, like Saks, or Neiman Marcus and ask a sales expert in the department. Do you have your receipts — just in case? I also go to google.com/images

The best place for identification and authentication is The Purse Forum, just Google Purse Forum Authentication and you will find it. Very knowledgeable and helpful.

Most stores sales associates are not allowed to authenticate and if you didn’t purchase from the store, they’ll tell you it’s fake. If the bag was a current seller, I’d suggest you check out an authentic one and compare with yours, but if it’s an older style, you’re better off asking on the Purse Forum to get unbiased opinions.

I don’t have any receipts; it was given to me by a friend who was cleaning out a relative’s house (the tag w/serial number is intact and legible though).

Here’s a link to some photos; if needed I can get better closeups, etc (hopefully this link works; Photobucket’s been doing some funny things on my computer)

Stores and brand boutiques don’t authenticate bags. Some SAs might offer their opinion but it isn’t necessarily the best informed. You can either have it authenticated on the purse forum for free or send pictures for authentication by a 3rd party. Authenticate4U.com does email evaluations of Bottega Veneta bags(a simple “yes” or “no”) for $7 and they have a quick turnaround time.

You might also want to try effenhaute.com for authentication. Just need to register.
