Shipping questions
I am new to Bonanza (recovering eBay addict). I have some questions about shipping (for the purpose of pricing my items correctly):

1.Does Bonanza offer to print shipping labels? If so, is there a discount on regular USPS prices? Does Pay Pal offer a discount on shipping prices when you use their labels? If so,which one has better discounts?

2. I read that Bonanza does not charge a final value fee on shipping up to $10. How do I enable this feature? Does this mean that if I offer free shipping, then I will have to pay the final value fee on shipping costs? That would defeat the purpose of offering free shipping to my customers.

In addition to what @atomicdiner said about not paying FVF on the first $10 in shipping charges (unless you offer FREE shipping), you do get a discount on shipping label costs (similar to what PayPal and eBay shipping do for commercial rates). However, you do pay Bonanza a convenience fee for printing labels … UNLESS

From the Bonanza Help [URL removed]

“Are there fees for printing postage on Bonanza?

If you use a pre-paid shipping fund (see below) with a Bonanza membership (Gold or higher), you will be charged no printing fees whatsoever. This is our recommended option for sellers who want maximum convenience with minimum cost.

The majority of the cost for printing a shipping label goes to the credit card company, which charges us 3% + $0.35 to draw funds from your credit card. If you use a pre-funded account, we save money on card processing fees, which we pass on to you. Read more about that in the section below.

For users that are not Bonanza members, a few cents per shipping label transaction are added to support our shipping label development efforts (which is responsible for negotiating our USPS discount as mentioned above, as well as integrating & maintaining the label purchasing with our API provider). For Bonanza members, we waive this nominal fee.

We’ll always show you the exact total before you confirm your purchase."

If you offer shipping for a charge, the fee here on the first $10 of shipping is free but you will still pay the fee for whatever shipping you charge on Paypal.

From what I recall, Bonz does charge some sort of fee if you print labels from Bonz but paypal does not charge a fee. I know PP does discount some of the shipping costs but dont know if Bonz does (since I dont use it since they charge a fee to use). I would think PP would be the best deal and just try to keep your ship costs under the $10 here to save some fees.

Oh and when you use PP to ship, you will need to manually port your tracking number over the the Bonz order when you mark it shipped so dont forget to do that.

Best of luck with your sales.

For point of reference, if you can exclude the first $10 in shipping costs and you are paying Bonanza’s advertising rate of 9%, you could save UP T0 $0.90 in FVF.

Since my shipping charges are usually $3 – $4, at 9% FVF rate, I would save $0.27 to $0.36 in FVF. For me, it’s not a big money maker since I feel that offering FREE shipping is better for ME in the long run.
