No seller protection on bonanza - why?

Hello,

I have already sold many items on Bonanza and was planning to upgrade my account to Titan account, when I discovered this.
It is showing me “PayPal Seller [URL removed] Not Eligible” under 90% of Bonanza transaction PayPal payments which I ever received. The buyers are allowed to complete checkout on Bonanza with their credit card without having a PayPal account! And none of these transactions is eligible for seller protection.
Every month I receive at least one unauthorised transaction chargeback on Bonanza, now I know that this is the reason. And it is only possible to see the information about seller protection eligibility when I click on the transaction details in my PayPal account.
Could you please let me know, if your payments for Bonanza sales are showing this as well?
Is there any way how can I set on Bonanza that I do not wish to accept sales from buyers without a PayPal account?

Thanks, Kika

I am so upset. In the last two weeks I have had two charge backs for two items equalling $1000 and they have the item and I don’t have the money. What do I do??

The same thing happened to me yesterday. I am so upset. It ruined my holidays abroad and now the only thing I can do is to try to prevent this happening again. Did you check the transaction details in your PayPal account?

If it is showing Seller [URL removed] Not Eligible, there is nothing you can do about it. Contact the buyer that you are going to contact police about it. I did this and the buyer cancelled the chargeback.

Actually, that is a paypal setting/paypal user agreement..paypal acts as a payment processor and a buyer can use paypal to process credit cards without having a paypal account..so even if you set it up on bonanza to accept PayPal only, a buyer can still use Paypal to process the their credit cards without having an account…

Go into paypal
Seller Preferences
Getting Paid and Managing my Risk
Click on Edit for Block Payments
Click on Yes for this and
For the items not sold on eBay, Only allow payments from the users with confirmed address. (this more than likely will mean they have a PayPal account since they will have confirmed address)…hopefully

But note, this will cut back on the amount of sales you may get..for the one or few CC call backs you get there maybe several more that go through fine, but will now not be blocked

You might want to check some of the other settings for non-ebay sites, also

Bonanza has nothing to do with how paypal processes the transactions, that is in the paypal user agreement between you and paypal for sites other than ebay (You can find the options you seller account setting at PayPal)

And no, mine do not show this..but it may have to do with location more than anything else..you sell worldwide and I do not as postage here is more than most international buyers want to pay

Very well put ccmom, thank you for the wonderful in depth explaination

Hello, all the transactions are showing address Confirmed, but Seller [URL removed] Not Eligible. The buyer does not have a PayPal account and pays by credit card, his address is confirmed

AngelicPretty says: August 22, 2016

I do not ship worldwide very much, I ship to the United States. The buyers who opened chargebacks were from United States. In Europe, it is not so easy to open a chargeback as in the United States. You often have to file a police report before you can chargeback a payment in the EU.

did not understand that (about shipping)…sorry that this happening.

Not really understanding how this is just associated with bonanza but I have a store here on bonanza and eBay and I only use pal pal for payments . I have had some charge backs jus t a few and they were all covered under pay pal seller protection. As long as you have
Tracking number and it says delivered to the same address that’s on the pay pal receipt then I am covered and I keep the money.
I never let anyone change shipping address after purchase for this reason .

Good morning,

Yes, there is a way to accept PayPal only.

Go to your “seller” dashboard, not “account” dashboard, choose “Payment Options” then choose PayPal. If this is the only option you wish to offer (its the only I use)make sure the others are unchecked.

Hope this helps

Hello,

I tried everything, I called to PayPal to ask them. The payments are all showing “Confirmed” address, but “Seller [URL removed] Not Eligible”.
Most Bonanza payments are showing [URL removed] Please keep this number for future reference, as your customer doesn’t have a PayPal account.
Selling on Bonanza is not safe, I can’t risk my PayPal account and lose so much money on the chargebacks.
I think that from now on, I will just cancel every Bonanza sale, which does not have seller protection. So 90% of sales.

The only thing I can suggest is going through the seller protection policy and see if there are settings for non-ebay sites to protect you [URL removed]

Perhaps sending a confirming email and asking for a response through paypal before shipping will help with some of the problem…if you get an email through paypal, you may be able to fight a later callback..since the shipping was confirmed by the buyer.

I called to PayPal and I have been told that if I want to receive payments from Bonanza, which are covered under seller protection, Bonanza would have to block payments from guest users. Credit card payments from users who don’t have a PayPal account. Only these payments are not covered
