Routine maintenance done. I had set up from the very beginning specific categories, like “vintage beads”, “contemporary beads,” and so on.
Suddenly, they are gone. Instead, there is a lump category of jewelry and watches.
I do not want things lumped into that category. I have never sold or listed a watch; almost never list jewelry.
Where did my vintage beads, and contemporary beads categories go? I don’t like that at all.

On my screen, I don’t see a “category of jewelry and watches” in Your shop, only “Jewelry making supplies” and “Costume jewelry”.
And instead of “vintage beads”, “contemporary beads” there are “glass beads” and “Vintage Buttons”:

My categories haven’t been changed, but my booth is currently on vacation.
Only B. support can confirm, if there has been some automatic categories update (then some other sellers would notice it as well) or maybe it’s some technical issues, bug.
I hope, You will be able to sort it out soon.

Hi @cshort0319,
Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the confusion. It sounds like you’re referring to booth categories. Your custom booth categories allow buyers to filter your items based on the categories you create in your booth settings. They will appear on the left-hand side of your booth when buyers are browsing. If a buyer clicks one of your custom booth categories, the visible listings in your booth will be filtered to display only items which fall under those categories.

Note that your custom booth category is separate from the main site categories. Sellers cannot create custom main site categories. Main site categories are how we categorize your items so we can ensure they are accurately displayed when buyers use search filters to look for items on the site. If sellers created their own site categories, buyers would not be able to easily filter their search results as there would be several custom categories for the same types of products. This is harmful to both buyers and sellers.

So, you may have a listing that appears under your booth category for “Vintage buttons,” but the main site category would be “Collectibles > Sewing (1930-Now) > Buttons > Glass,” for example.
Hope that helps to clarify. Please contact our team at [email protected] if you have any other questions about categories!

ArtistsUnion – your great How-to explanation is spot on – with great diagrams, too. Thank you for the time and effort it took to put it together. Much appreciated.
